(Founder, Composer) Erika is a composer and musician with extensive experience creating music in styles ranging from symphonic orchestra to modern pop and ethnic folk. She performs regularly playing the Celtic harp, guitar, djembe, bodhran and Irish whistle with her early music consort Sweet Amaryllis, and has worked as a musical director and resident composer for various Shakespearean Theater companies.
Erika has contributed music to films and television shows such as Satan's Little Helper (2005), Till Death Do Us Part (2007) starring John Waters, and feature-length epic docudrama Guiana 1838 (2007). In April 2007, her score for the short film, That's My Majesty, was performed live at Lincoln Center in New York City. In 2008 and 2009 she worked on various short films, including Cannibal Cheerleader Camp by Paul Busetti. Erika founded Sonic Legends in 2009 initially as a music store for tabletop and live-action roleplaying game enthusiasts. Over the course of the next two years, she and her team of composers created a catalog of over eighty 8-10 minute long, loopable pieces of music especially designed to suit the feel and dramatic storylines of games of all genres. It seemed a natural next step to offer the Sonic Legends catalog to video game developers who are looking for an affordable alternative to stock music, but who’s budget won't allow for an original composition.
One of the strengths that sets Erika apart as a composer is her use of exotic instruments and folk styles and applying them to an orchestral or modern musical setting. She has a working roster of musicians who play a range of exotic instruments such as sitar, serod, oud, tablas, Uillean pipes, concertina and hammered dulcimer. Her understanding of rare and ethnic instruments and the effects they produce, combine a unique blend of the esoteric to her music.
With her graduate studies in Music Technology and Film Scoring at New York University, Erika combines her musical performance and production background with a wealth of technical expertise. She lives in Westchester, New York with her husband, son and a cat named Aragorn, all of whom must ply her away from her Playstation 3 when they want dinner.
